Regional Manager Bio: Progress Hlahla. SANRAL Northern Regional Manager.

Progress Hlahla is a professional engineer with wide experience in construction, road network planning and transportation. Heholds a Master’s degree in Project and Construction Management from the University of the Witwatersrand, and has served as Deputy Chief Engineer in the Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport, participated in transport planning for the 2010 Soccer World Cup, and was involved in the implementation of the Gauteng Freight Implementation Strategy. During his career in the private sector, Mr Hlahla was the project leader for the Polokwane Bus Rapid Transit system and oversaw projects on the Gautrain network and Greenpoint Stadium as well as in Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Zambia.

Major Projects

MOLOTO ROAD

This priority project involves critical upgrades and maintenance over the entire 160km length of the R573, also known as Moloto Road, which links Gauteng, Limpopo, and Mpumalanga.

N4 UPGRADE

Road rehabilitation and upgrades to sections of the N4 Toll Route, including the Belfast-Machadodorp section, will catalyse trade and investment between the landlocked provinces of Gauteng, Limpopo, and Mpumalanga, as well as linking them to neighbouring countries.

POLOKWANE RING ROAD

The N1 National Route is the link between South Africa and the rest of Africa, and forms an essential link to stimulate economic growth in Sub- Saharan Africa as well as local economic development in the metropolitan area of Polokwane.

KARINO INTERCHANGE

Upgrading of the Karino Intersection to an interchange is the next phase of the original Nelspruit Northern Ring Road Project completed in 2010.
